Picon pledges to show-off best of Britain at drupa

Britain's leading print and papermaking trade association has pledged to back UK businesses with all its might at this year's international drupa print media fair.

The Printing Industry Confederation (Picon Ltd) is to help represent 18 of the UK's top print suppliers by hiring 800 square metres worth of floor across five drupa halls under the "Picon British Pavilions" brand, reports Packaging Europe.

Picon chairman Peter Morris says that members exhibiting under the umbrella of Picon - who encompass everything from litho and digital printing firms to post-press one - have the advantage of being supported by Picon's decades of experience, as well as its funding.

"Our role is to provide the organisational, logistical and marketing experience and infrastructure that allows them to exhibit cost-effectively at major global events such as drupa. Thanks to the Picon British Pavilions, these companies will be able to punch above their weight at drupa," he explained on PrintMonthly.co.uk.

The help provided by Picon will be well welcomed by the industry members, who might see the event as their big shot to reach out to commercial businesses. Held every four years, drupa regularly attracts a diverse audience of printing professionals and demonstrates goods like large format, outdoor and vinyl printers.

"[It's a] vital event for many UK suppliers: a platform to showcase their products to existing and potential customers, and strengthen and expand their distribution and dealer networks," said Mr Morris.
