5 tips for the best creative designs

If you want your brand to make an impact and stand out from the crowd, you need to focus on components that will help you to build a strong brand identity, catch people’s attention and make them want to choose you. From your logo and messaging, through to the design of your marketing materials and packaging, it’s important that you stand out you’re your competitors.

The design you choose needs to build an emotional connection with your target audience, whilst promoting your services or product and influencing opinion. If you want to make an instant impact through design, check out our top 5 tips for the best creative designs.

  • Less is more
  • Use high resolution images
  • Keep it consistent
  • Make it relevant
  • Strong call to action

Less is more

It is true what they say - less is more, especially when it comes to design and getting your message out there. Whether it’s for a roller banner or a leaflet, your design needs to be well-considered and grab the attention of your target audience. Having too many colours or design styles isn’t necessarily the best way to build a strong and memorable brand identity. In fact, if your designs are text heavy, it may put people off from looking at them all together. Keep it to the point, relevant and on brand.

Use high resolution images

When creating designs, don’t use low resolution images that can potentially look distorted or pixelated when printed. Quality matters, and flaws such as low-quality images and illustrations may give people the idea that your product or service is of a low quality. The designs and images you share are a reflection of your business.

Keep it consistent

Branding and design for a brand or business should always be consistent. The messaging, style, themes and colours should be uniform throughout, with subtle tweaks that establish what it is you want people to see or know. Once you have a style you love, it is hugely beneficial to create a style guide to ensure everyone is producing on-brand content.

Make it relevant

Designs don’t always have to spell it out, but there does need to be an element of relevancy. You need to consider the shapes, colours and messaging you are using and think of the reasoning behind them. Quirky layouts and styles can be great to make you memorable, however, if you want your audience to read a specific message, you need to convey it quickly and consider how the eye will run across the content.

Strong call to action

You can create the most amazing design that catches everyone’s attention, but if they don’t know who’s branding it is and there isn’t a strong call to action, it is effectively wasted. Ensure your style immediately conveys what the brand is and ensure the messaging/logo/graphics are clear and easy to understand.
