Drew Embarks on 60-Mile Walk for Cancer Research in Memory of Loved One

This November, Drew Lawrence and his small canine companion, Dave, are preparing to cover 60 miles on foot in a determined effort to raise funds for Cancer Research. Their journey, inspired by deeply personal loss, highlights an issue that resonates with countless families across the country.

For Drew, the fight against cancer became heartbreakingly real in 2023 when a sudden diagnosis struck within his own family. Claire, a beloved family member, faced the disease with remarkable courage and resilience. Despite her unwavering determination, Claire passed away less than a year after her diagnosis, peacefully at home and surrounded by her devoted husband and two grown children.

Drew’s walk, dedicated to Claire’s memory, aims to honour not just her courage, but also the experiences of all those whose lives have been touched by cancer. “Dave and I will be walking every mile in Claire’s memory — and for everyone whose lives have been and continue to be affected by cancer,” Drew told supporters. Through this heartfelt challenge, he hopes to raise crucial funds for cancer research, with the aspiration that, in time, cancer will become a disease consigned to the history books.
