HP Latex Printers - Reinforced Optical Sensor Upgrade
HP has introduced an additional proactive solution to prevent damage to the Optical Sensor on HP Latex printers.
This solution reinforces the Optical Sensor PCA (Printed Circuit Assembly) with a strengthened plastic holder, ensuring the sensor is firmly fixed and protected from any potential collisions caused by misplaced flags or vibrations.
Purpose of the Upgrade
- Prevent Optical Sensor damage due to mechanical impact or vibration.
- Increase sensor durability and reliability.
- Reduce downtime and maintenance issues caused by sensor misalignment.
What’s Changing
HP is replacing the previous Optical Sensor design (Part Number Y0U21-67007) with the reinforced version (Part Number 870B7-67025).
Implementation Plan
The new reinforced holders will be shipped directly to HP Partners rather than end users. Engineers will proactively install them during any planned service intervention, such as maintenance or break/fix visits, avoiding the need for separate site calls.

HP will be providing reinforced plastic holders to all partners for upgrading printers still using the old sensor design. The goal is to complete upgrades during regular maintenance or repair visits to avoid unnecessary service trips.
This initiative helps prevent possible Optical Sensor damage caused by vibrations or incorrect flag placement. Engineers will receive the parts in advance and perform upgrades proactively during site visits.
