World's first PageWide XL 8000 comes to Perfect Colours

On August the 6th we became the first company to order and install the very first HP PageWide XL 8000 in the world. By way of celebration, we invited a group of customers to come along to our headquarters to see the machine being installed and put through its paces.

The day began early, with HP partner manager Yucel Salih and engineer Pere, who is more normally based at HP’s Barcelona offices, arriving to help us install the machine and make sure it got it up and running seamlessly. The machine arrived pristinely packed but it didn’t take long for our team of engineers to have the PageWide XL 8000 out of its covers and ready to be set up.

Next up, the inks were installed and let to feed through the machine before the print-heads (all 40" of them) were slotted neatly into place.

Afterwards the PageWide XL 8000 was left to warm up and calibrate by feeding paper through from one of its four rolls.

Once the machine was fully calibrated, Pere and our engineers then assembled the stacker and installed [HP SmartStream]. All there was left to do was print – and put a Perfect Colours sticker on it, of course!

The PageWide XL 8000 has the fastest output speed on the market with an ability to deliver up to 30 printed A1s per minute. It can print in both monochrome and colour, making it perfect for an exceptionally broad range of applications, from architectural drawings to photo-quality posters and point-of-sale artwork.
