HP launches its first print and cut solution

As well as launching two new additions to the Latex family of printers at Fespa last month, HP also showed Europe its latest innovation aimed at the small and entry level print market: the HP Latex 315 Print and Cut Solution.

As well as launching two new additions to the Latex family of printers at Fespa last month, HP also showed Europe its latest innovation aimed at the small and entry level print market: the HP Latex 315 Print and Cut Solution. This is HP’s first combined product, bringing together a 54” business ready printer and a matching cutter that can be managed as one device using the HP Signage Suite, which is included.

Unlike similar solvent print-and-cut combos, this new dual-device solution allows users to print and cut at the same time. However, it’s still suitable for small operators for whom space is at a premium – it only takes up the same operating space as an integrated device. Furthermore, as latex print comes out of the printer dry, it can be cut or laminated right away, saving valuable waiting time required by solvent print and cut solutions. The HP cutter has a maximum speed of 1.13 m/second and features a drag-knife with TurboCut and tangential emulation modes offering a cutting accuracy of +/- 0.25mm and a cutting force of up to 400g.

This is HP’s first venture into cutting and the new device will only be available as part of a complete print and cut solution. As Jordi Casas, EMEA large-format production category manager, explained at FESPA, the company will continue to work with third-party partners for cutting devices – and that the new device simply represents another option for customers to choose from.

According to Perfect Colours Sales Director, Jon Telling, “This new print-and-cut combo is perfect for small to medium-sized operators for whom space is a consideration. It offers a small footprint and a low cost of entry, enabling start-ups to broaden their offer cost effectively right from the beginning. It would also be the ideal purchase for higher education establishments. We see it as a great little competitor to the more established print-and-cut solutions on the market.”
