HP Latex Printing – Helping the Environment

HP Latex Printing – Helping the Environment

With climate change a real threat to our planet, every business and every industry needs to be making a difference. HP takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously, and every new development in the Latex range is considered carefully with regard to its environmental impact. Latex printing technology has achieved a wide range of environmental certifications and eco-labels – meaning that it’s better for the planet, better for print operators and better for the end customer.

Environmental credentials win business

Print providers are seeing more and more of their clients taking an interest minimising their carbon footprint and contributing to a better environment. This means that if you aren’t able to fulfil these criteria, you may find customers looking elsewhere. However, with Latex printing technology, you can rest assured that you’ll be able to deliver all the certifications that make a difference.

HP is now recognised as one of the most sustainable companies in the world, and their Latex technology has fundamentally changed the environmental profile of signage, decoration and textile printing. Using an end-to-end approach, HP is setting the standard for current and anticipated environmental requirements. This not only protects your print operators but it also benefits your customers by enabling more differentiation from their competitors – in other words, it’s a win-win situation.

By printing on Latex printers, you’ll be achieving a broad set of credentials addressing the full spectrum of health and environmental concerns from ink chemistry and indoor air quality to overall product lifecycle considerations. These credentials include:

  • UL ECOLOGO – a voluntary certification from UL Environment that demonstrates that an ink meets a range of multi-attribute, lifecycle-based criteria relating to human health and environmental consideration – such as low VOC content levels and product recyclability.
  • Japan Eco Mark – certified by the Eco Mark Office of the Japan Environment Association as demonstrating a reduced environmental impact.
  • UL GREENGUARD GOLD – certified for low chemical emissions into indoor air during product usage – including the combined effect of inks and substrates.
  • Emissions dans l’air interieur – a mandatory label for decoration products in France providing a statement of emission levels for volatile substances in indoor air. HP Latex Inks and HP PVC-free Wallpaper are rated A+, the best certification.
  • AgBB – HP PVC-free Wallpaper meets this German health-related evaluation of building products.
  • LEED – this US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design recognises best-in-class building strategies and practices. Latex Inks and PH PVC-free wallpaper are in the low emitting category.
  • ENERGY STAR – this voluntary US Environmental Protection Agency program certifies products for superior energy efficiency.
  • EPEAT Bronze – a voluntary certification for ‘greener’ electrical components.

These are just a few of the certifications and environmental programmes for which HP Latex technology products qualify. The baseline is, that if you print on an HP Latex printer, you can be confident that you’re doing your bit for the environment.
