Printers reaching the end of the road
Once again, it’s time for fond farewells to a number of printers that have served us well over the years. HP will be withdrawing support for a range of second generation Latex printers in April 2020, and by the end of that month, they will no longer be supplying parts, printheads and inks for the printers affected.
Which printers are reaching EOSL?
The printers reaching the End of Service Life (EOSL) in April will include:
- HP Latex 26500
- HP Latex 28500
- HP Latex 260 series
- HP Latex 280 series
- HP Latex 800
- HP Latex LX600 series
This means that the above printers will no longer be eligible for the following kinds of support:
- Inks and printheads in the LX610 and HP Latex 792 series will no longer be available for order
- HP won’t guarantee the availability of spare parts after the EOSL date, though supply will continue until stocks run out
- Phone support will be discontinued
- HP will no longer provide onsite support for trouble-shooting, repair or installation
- All Care Packs and service contracts for the affected printers will be discontinued and extended warranties will no longer be available
- Software support for drivers, printer firmware or utilities relating to the EOSL printers will be withdrawn
Out with the old, in with the new
When a printer reaches its EOSL date, it’s usually a good time to think about an upgrade. The technology has moved on by leaps and bounds in recent years, and you’ll find the equivalent replacements far more effective and efficient than an old printer that’s nearing the end of its life.
