HP R Series Latex Inks – the sustainable choice

HP R Series Latex Inks – the sustainable choice

HP has long shown an outstanding commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its printers and peripherals, and the R Series Latex Inks are no exception. These aqueous-based ink formulations have been developed to meet worldwide regulatory requirements and to address a wide range of health and environmental considerations across the entire life cycle of your print – from production to disposal.

Meeting or exceeding global standards

Across the world more and more countries are setting rigorous standards and regulations in the field of environmental compliance. HP R Series Latex Inks have completed all the necessary registrations for the EUs chemical inventory requirements and can also be imported into a high number of other countries without restriction. The inks have been developed without the inclusion of regulated materials such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, mercury, lead, azo colorants and many more, meaning that they meet and comply with a wide range of global standards in this area.

Furthermore, the R Series Latex Inks don’t contain hazardous air pollutants, and have a volatile organic content (VOC) of less than 300 gm/l. This means the VOC emissions are extremely low compared to typical offset lithography emissions. Additionally, cleaning and maintenance procedures have been set up for minimal VOC emissions.

Taking the health of your operatives seriously

These inks have been ranked as non-hazardous by the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, the US HazCom 2012 and other country-specific GHS regulations.

This means that they don’t contain the following intentionally-added ingredients:

  • carcinogens, mutagens or reproductive toxicants
  • chemicals listed by the California Proposition 65 at levels requiring labelling
  • endocrine disruptors
  • toxic substances
  • respiratory sensitizers
  • substances identified as ‘very high concern’ or ‘very persistent and/or very bio accumulative’

In other words, you can feel entirely reassured that your operatives will come to no harm using HP R Series Latex Inks. Furthermore, when it comes to transportation and disposal, these inks are non-flammable, non-combustible and don’t require any special or costly handling, storage or transport-related conditions. They are also safe for use in the production of toys.

Certified as good for the planet

The R Series Latex Inks have demonstrated that they meet some of the most rigorous and comprehensive indoor air quality standards for low chemical emissions – and they have the certificates to prove it, including UL ECOLOGO, with GREENGUARD pending.

Both the R Series printheads and cartridges can be recycled through the HP Planet Partners Program, while the largest inks are supplied as 10-litre bag-in-a-box supplies – where 70 percent of the weight of the cartridge is a recyclable cardboard container.

For all these reasons and more, HP R Series Latex Inks are the responsible choice – use them and you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that both your operatives and the planet will be safe.
