Paper Size Guide: International A Series Sizes

Whatever your project may be, you’ll want to make sure the paper you’re using is the perfect size for your needs. That’s why we’ve created a complete guide to paper sizing, including a range of size options, measurements in cm, inches, mm and pixels as well as the general uses for each paper size, giving you a better idea of the right size to fit your requirements.

Note: the pixel measurements below are based on a document printed at 300dpi (dots per inch).

Paper Sizes

What size is A0 paper?

CM: 84 x 119

MM: 841 x 1188

Inches: 33.1 x 46.8

A0 format paper is very large in size and is typically only used in professional settings – particularly for technical drawings or large-scale designs with intricate details that need to be viewed up close. It is also sometimes used for posters.

What size is A1 paper?

Also on the larger side of things, A1 paper is often used for technical drawings, alongside maps and posters, or large-format advertisement materials.

A2 paper is still large, but very versatile, typically used for large wall calendars and flipcharts, as well as posters and other wall charts. It can also be used for large drawings or high-quality printed photographs.

One of the most commonly used paper sizes, A3 is found in many homes and workplaces thanks to its multitude of uses, including drawings and artwork, magazines, certificates, posters and photographs. It is also ideal for use as a promotional leaflet once folded, making it an ideal choice for visitor maps.

The standard paper size for most printers, A4 is the most commonly used paper type. From letters and notepads to books, magazines and official documentation, A4 paper is extremely versatile.

Less bulky than A4, A5 paper is widely used as a standard size for notebooks, as well as printed books, magazines, leaflets and flyers.

A6 paper has many uses, most popular of which is often associated with postcards or greetings cards that accompany flowers or gifts. It is also an ideal size for pocket-size diaries and books.

Compact in size, A7 paper is typically used for smaller projects, including class timetables or mini calendars, flyers or greetings cards

What size is A8 paper?

Inches: 2.0 x 2.9

Pixels: 874 x 614

The smallest in our list, A8 is often found inside a purse or wallet as a business card, tickets, stickers, labels or vouchers.
