The new PageWide XL 5100: a printer that meets the need for speed

When HP launched the new HP PageWide XL 5100 40-inch printer they missed a trick: this machine should have been issued with go-faster stripes! It’s more than 40 percent faster than its predecessor, the PageWide XL 5000, and, as well as that, the new version features a host of productivity boosters that improve output and keep costs low.

New key features

Naturally, every new version of a printer comes with some improvements, but in this case it’s a giant leap rather than a tiny step. The PageWide XL 5100 boasts an A1 printing speed of up to 20 pages per minute, in comparison with the 14 pages a minute achieved by the PageWide XL 5000. That’s a substantial productivity gain, with no loss in quality. Additionally, the new machine has double the memory of the old one – a whopping 16 GB – which means it’s able to process jobs much faster and gets the first page out far quicker.

Also helping to make the PageWide XL 5100 into a faster and more efficient machine is the addition of a 128 GB SSD disk to supplement the internal storage provided by the 500GB HDD disk. The result is faster processing and first page out, as well as a significantly increased overall print speed.

There are things, of course, that haven’t changed – such as the exceptional print quality that has always been a feature of HP’s PageWide range. This latest addition, like its predecessor, sets the standard for technical document printing, with crisp lines, smooth greyscales, vibrant colour and the ability to print legible text as small as 2-point. Using HP PageWide XL pigment ink, which is ISO certified for long-term storage and light/water resistance, the 5100 will provide outstanding results on both HP and third-party media.
